Default A different way to group

Okay, I think most people here would agree that the grouping system in place in Guild Wars just sucks tremendously. Everyone is spamming over the chat channel, and if you do finally decide to join someone, you have to scour over all the player names to actually find them before you can join them (or have them invite you).

Here's a suggested way of making this far easier.

Create a devoted Group screen per town. When someone wants to create a group, he/she (I'm gonna say he from now on, sorry ladies ) can simply click on a "Create new Group" button.

This will give the player the option to put in a few parameters.
Group for : Select from Mission / Bonus / Skillcap / Other
Details : Anything you feel like putting in there. Such as "capping skills from the nature elements," or "just traveling to beetletun!"

It doesn't really need any more than this, or else it will become too cluttered and also too much time to set one up.
Now, this info would simply show in the dedicated Group window in a small subwindow of its own. So you'd have a bunch of these little windows showing with groups. Preferably sorted so you can go through the groups quickly to find the ones that are doing the missions / bonus etc.

The window can be expanded, and it will show all the above details, plus the name of the group leader (with a whisper option), his level and classes, plus the levels and classes of all the people already in the group. Not having this info available before joining a group is pretty irritating, imo.

In my opinion, this would really make grouping far easier. I want to join a lvl 18+ group to fight in Lornar's pass? Simply look through the groups for one that says Other : "We're kicking ass in Lornar's Pass!" (I'm such a poet...)

Want a group that does the bonus in Sanctum Cay?
Bonus : We're just getting the bonus, not doing missions.

Looking for people to join you capping Battle Rage? Skillcap : going to cap battle rage. All ye warriors join up!

The only downside I can see to this option is that it probably takes quite a bit of time to code. But it seems like a far better solution than LFG MISSION LFG CAP LFG MONKS NEEDED etc?

Suggestions / opinions?

I actually really like this idea. Its very stylish. Just make sure its a hotkeyed window and it'll be all set.

Kudos, Creston.

Actually I was wanting to post a similar idea a while back, so what better time . I'd like to see a group registrar (or two or three) in each area who would be in charge of this window being pulled up (much like merchants are currently). On top of having the function you described for groups posting their existence and intent, I would like for individuals to also be able to post their information here.

For instance, an El/Me is looking for a PUG in Tombs so he goes to the registrar. There he is able to select an option that adds him the the list of people who are also willing to join a PUG. Now any group who is looking for an El/Me can pull up the group registrar merchant's window, select the link for adding an El/Me to the group, and the first El/Me in the list gets automatically added to the group.

The current way of grouping would still exist so you can still group with specific people, but the registrar would be the place for PUGs to easily and quickly get the type of character they feel is needed to complete their group.

Changes have to be made to the way groups are found in the game... it can be improved tremendously.

I like this idea...clears out the chat channel for truly useful things now (like people announcing nude dances, etc. ). Also, you can find a group that is a better fit this way and quicker, as the group leader won't have to sift through lines and lines of people spamming "LFG, LFG, LFG!!!!!111!!11!one "
